Have a nice weekend with Kellsey

Fashion and art are her main interests. She is a massive Disney lover even though you can’t always tell from her social media and on the other hand she is also a horror fanatic. This is Kellsey the ginger hair Scottish girl, protagonist of this Have e Nice Weekend.

Hello Kellsey nice to meet you. Where are you from and how old are you?
Hello! I am from Aberdeen, Scotland and I am 25 years old.

What do you do for a living? You are a blogger, is it correct?
I work in retail for a living! Nothing too exciting to be honest, but instagram is sort of a hobby of mine I guess. I love creating content and putting together outfits. When I was younger I always hated shopping and didn’t care too much about how I dressed but now I am the complete opposite.

I love expressing myself through my style, life is too short to dress boring.

Once I realised people were following me for my style I started putting in more effort to share looks and by doing so I have grown more confident in myself too. What I would really love to do for a living would be to become a tattooist. I have drawn all of my life and it has always been my dream to see my art on other people.

In some photos you hide your face, why?
Honestly, I’m not too sure myself! I guess it has been a habit since I was younger. Hiding half of my face with my hair was always easier than showing the full thing and hating it. Sometimes it is purely just because I would rather focus on my outfit in a picture or in many cases…a hat! Or maybe I just like to be mysterious.

Let’s talk about your tattoo collection. Who are the tattoo artists who tattooed you and what is your favourite style?
I’ve got quite the collection growing from a lot of my favourite artists. I like to travel to get them and also jump at the opportunity of getting booked in with guest artists in nearby cities. I’ve always been obsessed with collecting things and tattoos are just one of them. Quite a lot of my plant tattoos were done by my best friend @melgracietattoo and I’ve also had a few done by @j_nooodle whenever she guests in Edinburgh. Other guest artists I’ve been tattooed by are @edtaemets, @paingardens and @silvertattooer. I try to visit London every so often too and like to make sure I’m always booked in to get tattooed while I’m there. So far I have had the pleasure of being tattooed by @rebecca_vincent_tattoo, @aaronanthonytattoo and @antoine_larrey. As for my hometown, I only ever go to @sooztattoo.

I’ve always loved blackwork tattoos, I love most styles but I have always loved the idea of being covered in just black ink. I have a few dotwork pieces but most recently I have really fallen in love with single needle work. I have a scorpion and a rose on my knee by @smick_tattooer that I had done while I was visiting Amsterdam a year ago and ever since then I’ve wanted more in the same style. However I have been planning to get a more traditional looking tattoo in the future… and possibly in colour.

Which is the most recent one?
My latest tattoo is my Sacred Heart on my sternum done by the lovely @kerrygentletattoo in Dunfermline, Fife. It was my last one just before the world went into lockdown otherwise I definitely would have had many more by now. We had actually planned to add another to my arm so I am excited that tattoo shops are now open again and we can get it booked in as well as a few more ideas that I have. My most recent tattoos are all on my stomach, @melgracietattoo did my palm leaves on either side of the sacred heart.

How do you consider and live the tattoo art?
I’ve always considered tattoos as one of the most beautiful ways to express yourself but also a way to make you feel more confident in your skin. I first started tattooing my legs because I didn’t like them and by adding art to them it helped me love them that little bit more. The world needs to stop looking down on it so much and being so judgemental. I’ve been in relationships and jobs where tattoos were hated and frowned upon but by cutting out all of these toxic opinions I have grown so much as a person and been able to feel more confident and comfortable in my skin.

I finally feel like I can express myself and be more…well, me!

Also the tattoo community has allowed me to create new friendships which is just an added bonus! Sometimes getting a tattoo is just like having a catch up with your friend you’ve not seen in months.

I saw nice drawings of plants and flowers. Did you do them? Are they sketches for new tattoos?
I did indeed! I have a degree in Illustration and my own style is actually black fineliner pen work. They are tattoo idea sketches but not for myself! I’m currently just trying to build up my portfolio to hopefully one day be able to tattoo them on someone else! I don’t really get any of my own work tattooed on me, I don’t see the point. The reason I go to specific tattooists is because I love their work and style. Maybe one day I’ll add a few of my own to my body.
